Padley Martyrs Service

7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Monday, 25th July at 7.30pm. This ecumenical service will take place at the Bridge Chapel to commemorate Nicholas Garlick, Richard Simpson and Robert Ludlum who were martyred in Derby on 24th July 1588. They were imprisoned in the Bridge Chapel until their execution which took place on the east side of St Mary’s Bridge. (A few years before, there was a persecution of Protestants under Queen Mary, when Joan Waste was burnt at the stake in Lime Avenue – next to St Joseph’s). Fr John Trenchard will be preaching at the Service when Christians from all denominations will be praying together
